Format Change

MegaMillions officially announced their format change which begins with April 8th drawing. Highlights: One less mega ball Price increase: $5 per play (vs $2) Jackpots start at $50M (vs $20M) Also larger prizes for other categories* Adding new 10x multiplier* Multiplier is now included with every play* * Since CA Lottery has not yet (as of March 27, 2025 ) announced any information on this format change, it is unclear how prize increases or the included multiplier with each play will work for players in California. Note that currently CA does not offer the multiplier option and all prizes in CA are parimutuel.

How the Game is Played
Mega Millions winning numbers are drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 PM US Eastern time. Five white balls from a pool of 70 and one MEGA ball from a pool of 25 are randomly picked.
